You probably need the full version of QuickTime ..... similar to needing the full version of Acrobat Professional to create PDFs. Can you provile the link to the URL you mention. I"ll take a look at it and see if I can figure anything else out.

Ok so I found a good podcast, loaded it and viewed it, it would be a good one to have on my computer to play through a projector to a group. Tried to save but get the error, you need to buy Quick time 7 pro. I have quick time player 7.1.3. I can open it as a url in quick time player and have the movie. Any suggestions, thought I went through a quick time update not long ago. Is this one of thoes Adobe reader vrs Adobe writer ? Suggestions or do I need to purchase?

Vicki -- you can get a USB hub BUT you need to be aware that you need to have USB 2.0 to run your iPod. So, what that means, is if your computer is older, it probably doesn't have USB 2.0. But if it is newer, then you can get a USB Hub that is compatible with USB 2.0 ports and you should be good to go. I'll be happy to discuss this with you more if you'd like.

I just wanted to say that I have now listened to podcasts, a book, and a little music on the iPod. I have successfully downloaded from audible.com the subscription that I bought. So things are going swimmingly. On my home computer, I only have one USB port and that is the one for the mouse. There do, however, seem to be a lot of ports back there. Is there some kind of adapter that I can get so I can download, etc, from the home computer? vicki

I am really enjoying getting oriented with the iPod. I have about 6 or 7 podcasts downloaded once a week and find some of them great listening while traveling. One I really enjoy is TWIT: This Week in Technology. The latest “podcast” focused on the conflict in the industry over the use of the term “pod” as a generic descriptor for these downloadable audio files. Of course the term is a derivative of the Apple iPod. The term iPod is a registered trademark, the same as iTunes. Just as “Formica” is used by many to describe plastic laminates used on counter tops etc…it is a trademarked name and those who extrapolate on its name to describe a related business, (i.e. “Formica Pros”, Top Formica Company ”) are infringing on that trademark. So…the “Podcasters Association”, “Podsearch”, and other websites using the term “Pod” are receiving letters from Apple to cease and desist using their intellectual property. What might be used instead? The term “netcast’ has been used and might take its place…but the Podcasting enthusiasts are an independent lot and look as if they will try tilting with the windmill. Despite their quixotic behavior, I think they will eventually be forced to relinquish their hold on the “pod” based nomenclature in favor of a generic descriptor. Just when podcasting is building up market potential for investment that could launch this medium into mainstream big time, we are forced to rename the technology and confuse the masses just a little bit more. Will the end result of this struggle hurt Apple, or help it?
I don’t know, but its fascinating and educational listening. Give TWIT a try. It’ll bring out the geek in you.

ok, so lets assume that the financial industry is our technology leaders and early adaptors. Try some of the financial web sites for their pod cast on 'education. Granted there is a marketing included but some of the 10 minute discussions are actually quite good, a model for where we are going??????

Q: How do I import an audiobook I purchased from Audible.com?

A: Thanks for your question. Mary Jo has an audible.com account so I asked her. She said that you need to access your audible.com library. When you’re there, you can add your iPod as a device and it should just download your book to your iPod.

Q: What to do when you iPod freezes?
Reset your iPod.

1. To reset your iPod nano:
2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
3. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds.
4. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep

Q: Recording an audio pod cast?
All you really need to record a podcast is your computer with Windows Media Player and a headset with a mic. If there's are two or more creating the podcast, you'll probaly want a stand-up mic or table mic so that each person's audio is picked up. You can get a table mic for about $30
